what beauty goes unnoticed
love these photos of a south Austin icon…I remember stopping in on a Saturday morning to get a part for the toilet…a somewhat brusque greeting from the Deutchman followed by his brief search through the darkly overflowing racks of parts while I waited at the counter…the only light in the place seemed to come from the open door…but he had what I wanted…always
It’s like losing Andy Griffith, albeit crabbier. Deutchman’s retains a presence while slowly receding into the past. Nostalgia itself claims me from time to time, even without a specific memory.
